Katie Boatman is currently pursuing her MFA in Painting at the University of South Carolina’s Department of Art. Originally from Tennessee, her environmental source for inspiration has changed from the natural world found in the wooded hills to that of a mysterious ocaeanic realm. Heavily influenced by Buddhist thought, Boatman's work is a manipulation of elemental form to convey physiological as well as psychological relevance between animal and nature; human and nature. Her media of choice include oil, distemper, and pastel which she intentionally employs to convey the impermanence in life.
